    Project Narrative

As the AIDS pandemic spreads, the already stretched Malawian health system is unable to cope, with 70% of hospital wards filled with HIV patients. Hospitals are turning HIV sufferers away. Some have family, some have no one. Families generally do not know what to do for these patients. SIMaid has established a home-based care program in 6 communities, where volunteers make regular visits to the sick and offer health advice to families.

    How will your contribution help?

A critical , and effective element of addressing HIV/AIDS is the provision of home based care for patients. Your investment in this project directly benefits HIV/AIDS patients and their carers but also has a wider impact by taking pressure off existing scarce healthcare resources.

    Current Project Focus
