Project Goal: $42,529
The Orphan Care program has been running quite smoothly over the last few months providing assistance to those in need. Here is just a few of the activities that have occurred:
* Secondary School students have been selected for scholarships to continue their education. All students began a new school year in September.
* Thanks to some special donations the roof of the new Chilumba Day Care Centre has been completed and is now water-tight in time for the rainy season.
* A small shelter has been constructed over the playground at Chilumba to prevent the metal from getting too hot.
* Refresher training courses have been run at three of our Orphan Care Centres. This has been a fruitful time for our volunteers.
* A fifth project location has been established in Muona - 2.5hrs from Blantyre. This will help us to reach more people in need. At present volunteers and the staff are working to identify those in the new local area in the most need of assistance.
Orphan Care
This project works in partnership with the Africa Evangelical Church (AEC) to support families caring for orphans through advocacy, nutrition, respite for carers and educational needs to ensure that these children are given hope and a future.
