The Workshed attracts a lot of attention in the village of Thiangrial. It’s a place where local men can go and learn new skills in metal work which would otherwise be out of reach due to the remoteness of their home village.

The work the staff do at the Rom Clinic is of great significance to the people of Akoka community.

In the past 12 months, the Workshed has endeavoured to keep its operation going despite numerous obstacles. A visit from Russell Ricketts and the arrival of Tom Ward, a professional in metal work and welding, has sparked growth.

This project helps the community of South Sudan back on its feet after decades of civil war. A workshed has been built and is operating as a vocational skills centre to start up and train people in small business enterprises. This will create jobs and provide      appropriate skills.

The first business is a metal-working enterprise, with a timber workshop following close behind.

It is less than six months since the whole Workshed project has really started to take shape in Thiangrial but we are already seeing some great success.
