Idriss, an elderly man from Blue Nile State, came into our clinic for care for a cough one day. We asked about his arms which appeared to have been severely burned.

Eleven year old Abdarhim sits quietly, his slim, lanky frame draped over the examining table. A wound in his foot from a thorn had developed a fungal infection.

Desperation prompted Nyajima’s mother to bring her emaciated two year old daughter to our Nutrition Village. Nyajima’s playful childhood ended during a month of untreated illness; she stopped walking after the second. 

We have been very fortunate to have a Clinical Officer from Kenya with us. Thanks to his expertise we have been able to keep and treat more serious illnesses without having to refer to other facilities.

Leprosy is a significant problem in South Sudan. In 2008 The World Health Organisation stated that 1.2 per 10,000 people were affected.
